I never posted the final pictures of what I made, did I? A lacy neck-warmer for Lady Sybil to wear when being chauffeured around by her beau. Topped off with a flowery brooch and lined with chiffony stuff to give it some body. It was made from Rowan baby bamboo – silky!

The Maine attraction….
Well, I’ve been trailing this for a while and FINALLY my Downton Abbey swap parcel has arrived all the way from Maine. thank you sooo much Libbybrook (you can find her blog here, btw) Want to see what she sent me???
Ooooo a spotty ribbon, good sign.
Some very tasty looking Maine blueberry jam…and some fancy tea to sup with it.
Spookily, some grey alpaca yarn. Just like I sent her!!!! Great minds and all that. Im v pleased with this because saying goodbye to the other skein was hard…
Some lovely fat quarters (we share a love of quilting) in very nice taupey shades – very Japanese. I like. A lovely tea spoon (I htink) that you can use to scoop out your tea bag. Its going on my dresser, not in my mug!
A book!!! I know ,it just goes on and on doesnt it? There was a lip balm too but my photo was rubbish. And the Maine attraction…tah-dah!!! Beeeeooootifull hand warmers with gorgeous buttons. She knows my weakness!
and that’s it – phew!!!! I urge you to have a go at an Internet swap. I love ‘em. Hope fully you can see why now. THANKYOU Libby and THANKYOU Subway Knitters for organising the whole thing. I had a blast. Or should I say blarst, it is Downton after all!
Drive on…
So, I’ve already mentioned the Downton Abbey Swap I took part in on Ravelry. Well, my spoilee emailed this weekend to say she has received my little shoebox all the way in Maine. She said she likes the goodies, phew! Want to see?!!??! Look….
The basic idea was that you were knitting for your partner’s favourite character from the series. I got Lady Sybil, the wayward rebellious daughter who runs off with the chauffeur. I got to thinking…..while I was thinking I put together the goodies you see above. In a bit more detail we have….
A skein of 100% alpaca yarn, from a local herd. The sire came from the States too, apparently. Undyed, it’s made from 3 lots of white to one part black fibre. And is nice and soft. Oh yes.
A Brit style coaster for the all-important cup of tea.
Quilt themed post-it notes (target is a quilter too) the organisers of the swap were very good at matching people up weren’t they?!
tunnocks tea cakes (these almost didn’t mafront into the parcel because I LOVE them so much. Very traditional, very tea time.
Some V&A quilting fat quarters – I want them too!
The all-important tea. My sister has introduced me to teapigs. These two flavours were my favourites of a selection she gave me recently so I got some for my spoilee.
And the knitted article itself….want to see???Here’s a clue….
A little something – part 1
To a cold wet windy railway station carpark at stupid o’clock in the morning…I’m a happy bunny though becasue I’ve just opened mysewingcircle.com sewing swap!! Look! I got the box above and in it a needlecase and pin cushion – look!

i love swaps, you never now what you’re going to get. The theme was ‘a little something’ and this was a lovely way to start a chilly, damp day. Thank you to Mandy for all her hard work. Part 2 will be soon with my creation…
