No sooner have I posted about whacky races but another first in Elder’s development. He has been loving the literary ahem, delights of Fleabag Monkeyface which we have been reading at bedtime.. Tonight he finally grasped that he could sit in bed and read it himself!! Yay!! He even came downstairs and said that he didn’t have to only read his school reading books – he could read other stories too!! Oh, being a mad reader when I was growing up with a librarian Mother, this is a VERY Big Thing!

To celebrate I’ve lent him my favourite book when I was about his age – The Witch Family by Eleanor Estes. Have you read it? If not, go get it…it’s brilliant.

I am so proud of him. Forgive my gushyness but hey, this is a major milestone. Hooray!
