I don’t know about you, but I’m not very good at buying things in advance. So here I am the end of November and no advent calendar for the boys. By which of course I mean no chocolate advent calendar.
So, harking back to a calendar my neighbour (Mrs Schroeder) made for me when I was a little girl, I’ve come up with this quick quick version.
I made it halway so far tonight, so here’s part one. I will post part 2 tomorrow when I finish it. Hint: go out and buy sweeties in the morning 🙂
I’m making two, one for each child. I can’t bear arguments at breakfast!
Cut a long strip Of your chosen fabric. It should be long enough to hold 24 motifs and wide enough to be doubled over to fit the motif nicely. Mine are about 20 cm by 130 cm but go with what works for you.
Cut 24 motifs to use in your numbers. Here, I’ve used a combination of hearts and squares. I use scraps of cotton, hessian and felt. Again, go with your scraps, colour scheme or both.
Take your time, lay out the motifs so that they are spread out equally. This takes longer than you think! Then get some nice glue. And stick them down. I told you this was a quick make – minimal stitching.
Leave to dry overnight. That’s what I’m doing right now. See you tomorrow with the final bit. Not too much more to do I promise.
