Anthropology 1 : SAHM

I am a member of a tribe, a group, a pack, a flock.

We move together, twice a day

Split shifts, there and back.

And in between we cook and clean

And keep our houses neat

And then to kill the time to three

We might go sweep the street.

Not meet,

For coffee,

Oh no. Honest.

But caffeine is our drug of choice

Our crutch throughout the day

No sleep for weeks can wreck a girl

A latte makes us sane.

My freedom flew the day you came

With those first bawling mews

But all of this

I gladly take

I gladly struggle on

Because you’re here and you are mine

My lovely maddening sons.
