Style i-con or style i-can?

imageWordPress do a daily post prompt which I always look at but seldom follow up on but today’s is to describe your personal style. I couldn’t resist.

Why? Well I wanted to share my personal style theory – the world is divided into two types of person:: amateurs and professionals. The latter are groomed, crease free and have shiny shoes. The former are shall we say, rustic in their attitude to mud and fluff (lots, sticking to boots, cars and glasses), have holes in their mismatched socks and believe that Narnia exists and tHe way in is probably in their wardrobe but they’ve never delved that deep into the textile mountain that has accumulated there.

Guess which one I am? Yep, the scarecrow is my style Icon, albeit a scarecrow with a penchant for print, colour, embroidery and charity shops. One day my style will be appreciated I’m sure, but until then I am quite happy being avoided in the street by those professionals, taupe to a (wo)man, who cannot relate to the ‘artisan’ approach to fashion.

  1. It’s probably just me, but I read the words “personal style” and thought of painting knives…
But I get the scarecrow thing. I don’t think fashionistas wear 20-year-old Arran jumpers, somehow.

  6. Man. You got me on “have holes in their mismatched socks and believe that Narnia exists and tHe way in is probably in their wardrobe but they’ve never delved that deep into the textile mountain that has accumulated there.” In fact I should be cleaning my room right now. ;-o I am also a huge fan of Narnia.
